Hey Guys, Girls, Everyone!

It’s been a while and I decided what better way to return than to start where I began, with makeup! I decided that with this year fast approaching its close, I would feature some of the makeup I’ve recently discovered and been loving this year.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation in Fair Light Neutral ($39)

I was a big fan of Tarte’s Amazonian Clay powder foundation. I loved the way it looked on my skin and I never felt like I was wearing any foundation. However, when I ran out of that and in need for a new foundation, I decided instead of purchasing another container I  would change things up and go liquid. So, like any girl in need of some makeup assistance, I went to my local Sephora store. There, I tried several different samples of every kind of liquid foundation they had. I knew I wanted a foundation that wouldn’t cling to my dry spots (it’s winter now and my skin is not happy about it), would include SPF and would provide light to medium coverage.

Funny enough, after my store-wide search, I found myself back at the Tarte section and staring at a bottle of the Rainforest of the Sea foundation. Upon trying it on, I was in love. It is a water base foundation which is a definite a plus for me since it didn’t feel heavy or suffocating on my skin and it was a perfect match to my skin tone. Being on the paler side, I sometimes find it hard to get a foundation that doesn’t add to the paleness of my skin and wash me out entirely so purchasing a light shade that still allowed me to maintain my natural skin color was yet another bonus. Although, I haven’t been using this foundation for long, I do know that every time I wear it it makes my skin look like just the right amount of dewy and not in the just got done at the gym way or in the i”s it hot in here?” way but in the hey girl hey way … you know? Anyways … I also feel like it gives great coverage and lasts the whole day. All in all I give it 8/10 stars

I guess I should have mentioned this first since it is a primer but hey, we’re here now. With this face primer all I can say is why didn’t I jump on the band wagon earlier. I would literally hear every beauty guru on YouTube rave about this stuff and read it in every fashion magazine. But me being me, I ignored it. Finally, while at Sephora during my thousand foundation hunt, I was persuaded to buy it. As I mentioned before, having dry skin during the winter is never a fun or pretty thing so getting a hold of this is a life saver. Not only does this stuff smell amazing! (if you like coconuts, which I do.) It also really feels hydrating and soothing on the skin. When I wear this stuff in combination with my Tarte foundation, my skin in honest the best I’ve ever seen it. There is active ingredients like coconut water and probiotics that provide much needed moisture to the skin leaving it feeling primed, refreshed, and rejuvenated to apply you makeup.  10/10 stars!

This baby has been my “go to” for a pretty good portion of the year. As you may know, I did a post a while back talking about all the highlighters I’ve used/own so I am no stranger to the game. However, I will admit, that this should have been one in my collection. The stick applicator makes it ridiculously easy to apply to just about anywhere on your face, while the creamy consistency allows you to glide it over your skin like butter. It adds just the right amount of glow and is perfect for a not so “in your face” highlighter option. 10/10 stars!

Benefit Cheekathon Blush and Bronzer Palette ($59)

What is there not to say about this palette … It includes nearly every one of the Benefit blushes and my personal favorite bronzer of all time, Hoola and it even includes a small travel brush. But by far the most mind blowing this about this palette is the price. I will be the first … ok probably not the first but one of the many people to say that it is A M A Z I N G! A blush or bronzer alone from Benefit costs $29 and in this palette you get five … I mean come on! In terms of use, I honestly have no other blushes or bronzers in my makeup bag aside from this palette. I use it every day almost and I can honestly say I love each and everyone of the blushes for their own reasons. I won’t go into detail now but maybe in a future post I will review each one individually. As for now, 10/10 stars!

I really hope you all enjoyed this review of my 2016 makeup essentials. Please let me know if you have tried any of the products I mentioned above or if you decide to go out and purchases them for yourself. But as always, don’t forget to like, comment and subscribe for more of me 🙂

Makeup Brush Collection

Beauty, Lifestyle, Makeup

Welcome Back!

I hope you guys had a lovely weekend. It’s currently 16 degrees and snowy where I live so I am definitely looking forward to some sunshine and warmer weather! Anyways, today I wanted to share with you a collection of my current/favorite makeup brushes that I used on a day to day basis.

I am a firm believer in the fact that you don’t need to spend a fortune to get good quality makeup brushes. All make up brushes I use are under $15 a piece. If you’re looking to add some new brushes to your collection, look no further than some of the ones I’ve mention here.

Brush #1:

This Elf Flat Bop Brush is awesome for applying any kind of power foundations you might be using. I use this brush when applying my Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation. It provides a smooth application as well as leaves your makeup looking flawless.

Brush #2:

I like to use this brush to apply whatever blush I might be using for the day. It works great when applying color to the apples of my cheeks. I also love this brush because it is part of the Eco Tools cosmetic makeup brush line. This means, each product is made with a bamboo handle, recycled aluminum cap, and is 100% cruelty free.

Brush #3:

When using this brush, I like to apply any sort of bronzer I might be wearing for the day. The slanted bristles allow for a more precise line while the roundedness of it allows for any appropriate blending. If I want to add some warmth to my face and make it look like I have a slight contour, I reach for this brush every time.

Brush #4:

Speaking of contour…I recently mentioned this brush in my “New Makeup Products” post. I can’t rave enough about the quality of this brush and the fact that it was so incredibly affordable. I use this brush when I’m trying to actually get that contoured look. The packed bristles and the straight edge makes for the perfect contour tool.

Brush #5:

This is the first Real Techniques brush I have ever purchased and I will say honestly that I’m looking forward to owning more. I use this brush as somewhat of a buffing brush. When I’m finished contouring or applying any sort of makeup I like to finish by blending out any harsh lines or access powder. The bristles are super soft and the the overall design of the brush is extremely comfortable in the hand and nice to use.

Till next time!

Highlight My Life: Highlighter Favorites & Review

Beauty, Benefit, Essence, Highlighter, Makeup, MaxFactor, Ulta

img_3237
Well long time no post! First, before I get started, I would like to apologize for my long absence. Life happens and so does illness….like a nasty case of salmonella poisoning. But I have recovered and I’m ready to get back to writing. So, with that being said, lets talk about some highlighters.

Highlighters: What can I say. I was never really into the whole highlighting thing until recently. I always used to highlight the inner corners of my eyes or on my brow bone but nothing further than that. I thought highlighting was strictly a “keep it on the eyes” kind of thing. However, with the recent blow up of conturing and highlighting, I realized you can completely change your makeup and give it more dimension just by drawing attention to the high points on your face. Like I said, this highlighting thing has been a rather new addition to my everyday makeup and I am no expert but here are the products I’ve been experimenting with lately.

This Kohl Eye Liner from Ulta in the shade Halo is perfect for highlighting the inner corners and brow bone. The product has a smooth creamy blend-able consistency which I really enjoy. I also like that this eyeliner is really pigmented without being too glittery. All you have to do is pretty much just swipe it once over the area that you want highlighted and the blend it out for a soft shimmer.

I received this small version of Benefits Watt’s Up highlighter in a sample package with other smaller versions of the companies top sellers a few months back, and people don’t be fooled! Even though the packaging is rather small compared to its original size I have barely used half since the four months I started using it. What I enjoy about this product is that the consistency is smooth just like the Kohl Eye Liner from Ulta. I use a few swipes on my cheek bones, bridge of my nose and forehead. Then, blend it out with my ring finger to get ride of any harsh edges between my makeup and the highlighter. The color of this highlighter is more of golden bronzed shade which is perfect for the up coming summer months.

These are two little babies that I also received in that Benefit sample pack. They are Benefits signature liquid highlighters Sunbeam and Highbeam. Sunbeam is a more pigmented bronzed version of Benefits Watt’s up and its twin Highbeam, is a pinkish iridescent highlighter this a also quite pigmented. Both highlighters are blendable while wet and they also have long staying power compared to a powered highlighter. I also enjoy that even though these products are in liquid form they don’t feel heavy or thick whatsoever on the skin.

img_3239

If you’re just starting out highlighting or you want to save a few…a lot of money. I would highly suggest Soo Glow by Essence. I was really surprised by the overall quality of this highlighter. This very affordable cream to powder highlighter is perfect for that all over glow. It gives the right amount of light catching highlight and makes your skin look dewy without looking overdone or oily. I would say the color of this product in the container looks almost like a solid form of Benefits Highbeam however, when applied the color is not as pigmented.

img_3243

I spoke about my love of the Max Factor Pastel Blush in Seductive Pink in my March Favorites post however, I forgot to mention its highlighting ability. Although subtle, this blush has a slight shimmer to it that creates the effect of highlighter. Now I know that this product clearly isn’t an all over highlighter since it is a blush but if you’re in a hurry to get ready you know this product has you covered…well on the cheeks at least.
